Tennis Alliance of Anne Arundle County

A CFAAC 25th Anniversary Designated Fund established by the Tennis Alliance of Anne Arundel County, and its mission to expand tennis opportunities for all in Anne Arundel County and to promote the sport of tennis for health, wellness, and life.

A MESSAGE FROM THE TENNIS ALLIANCE OF ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY

“Our programs target underserved communities in Anne Arundel County to provide an affordable recreational activity for a healthy lifestyle and quality of life.”

The Tennis Alliance uses the lifetime sport of tennis to educate youth and families about proper nutrition and promote values learned through sport such as resiliency, sportsmanship, teamwork, and more. Our program partners include Healthy Anne Arundel Coalition, The Housing Authority of the City of Annapolis (HACA), Marshall Hope Learning, Special Olympics of Anne Arundel County, elementary schools in Brooklyn Park and Annapolis, USTA National Tennis and Learning (NJTL), City of Annapolis Recreation and Parks, Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks. Our 6-week classes not only teach the sport of tennis, but the Tennis Alliance provides free rackets and balls to those needing equipment so families and youth can continue to play for free on county tennis courts. County high schools offer both Co-Ed Varsity Tennis and Unified Varsity Tennis (Unified sports pair students with students with disabilities). Both teams offer a rich and diverse experience that otherwise would not be an option or consideration for the youth we serve. Our extensive volunteer program includes over 30 high school students each year who take on leadership roles in our classes as youth coaches. Our student-training program allows students to advance to a summertime paid position. The Tennis Alliance is part of the national RecycleBall program saving thousands of balls from landfills.

Diabetes and obesity continue to be issues for many underserved communities. Proper nutrition and accessible healthy activities are essential in addressing this problem. The Tennis Alliance reinforces a message for healthy eating and provides a lifetime activity that is fun, accessible, and affordable. Our programs enhance the quality of life for more Anne Arundel County residents.
