COMMUNITY FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THREE NEW COMMUNITY FUNDS

(Annapolis, MD, October 2, 2025) The Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County (CFAAC) announced the establishment of three new grant-making funds designed to align with the priorities of local donors and address persistent community needs. Two of these new funds, the Food Insecurity Fund, which will support county residents facing hunger, and the Family Protection Fund, which will support immigrant families facing hardship are in response to donor requests as well as the needs addressed in CFAAC’s 2025 Community Needs Assessment Report, Poverty Amidst Plenty VIII: Building Community Together. The Performing and Visual Arts Fund reflects local donors’ commitment to encouraging creativity and expanding access to the arts countywide.

“Opening these new funds is a direct reflection of what we heard from our donors and what the Community Needs Assessment data tells us about our county’s most pressing needs,” said Mary Spencer, CFAAC President and CEO. “The Food Insecurity Fund will provide resources for our community members who are facing hunger and the Family Protection Fund will provide immediate assistance to immigrant individuals and families facing adversity, while the Performing and Visual Arts Fund will ensure that creativity continues to thrive in Anne Arundel County. Together, these funds give donors meaningful ways to make a significant impact in their own backyards. CFAAC has multiple Field of Interest Funds that allow generous donors to support the causes they care about most and these new funds further expand our response to community needs and donor interests.”

With a focus on reducing hunger and promoting well-being, the Food Insecurity Fund supports efforts to ensure that all residents of Anne Arundel County have reliable access to nutritious food. It also supports nonprofit initiatives that address the root causes of food insecurity and encourage long-term, sustainable solutions.

The Family Protection Fund provides funding to nonprofit organizations and their community partners that aim to build capacity around a range of immigration-related legal services and crisis support for vulnerable individuals and families.

The Performing and Visual Arts Fund celebrates the transformative power of creativity by supporting organizations dedicated to enriching our community through music, dance, theater, visual arts, and more. With a focus on accessibility, inclusion, and cultural preservation, it helps ensure that individuals from all backgrounds can experience, create, and appreciate artistic expression.

These designated funds are part of CFAAC’s vision of a vibrant and generous community where everyone comes together to enhance the quality of life for all in the county.  To support these funds, please visit cfaac.org/fund-directory/
