John Rodenhausen is the President and CEO of the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County (CFAAC), where he leads the Foundation’s efforts to promote philanthropy and expand its impact across the county. A seasoned leader with more than 27 years in the nonprofit sector, John is known for his collaborative leadership style, strategic vision, and deep commitment to connecting people who care with causes that matter.
Before being named President and CEO, John served as CFAAC’s Director of Gift Planning, where he helped to substantially increase the Foundation’s revenue and granting capacity through the creation of new funds and securing planned gift commitments. In that role, he also helped cultivate partnerships with the Anne Arundel Estate Planning Council, giving circles, and community leaders, advancing CFAAC’s mission to grow philanthropy for the benefit of all.
Prior to joining CFAAC, John spent 25 years at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, where he served in several leadership roles — including Maryland Director of Major Giving and manager for the Discovery and Student Leadership programs. During his tenure, he raised millions for clean water and environmental education initiatives and created innovative donor experiences that inspired lasting connections to the Chesapeake Bay.
John holds the Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP®) designation from the American College of Financial Services and a bachelor’s degree in communications from The Pennsylvania State University. He also holds a U.S. Coast Guard Captain’s License and spent many years as a professional mariner.
An engaged civic leader, John has served on local boards and committees, including the Coastal Conservation Association, Unity Gardens, and the Green School of Baltimore, which he helped found. He is a member of the Maryland Philanthropy Network, a graduate of Leadership Maryland (Class of 2017), and John continues to invest his time in developing and supporting future community leaders.
A lifelong advocate for stewardship and community connection, John brings his love for the Chesapeake Bay, his passion for service, and his belief in the power of generosity to everything he does. He and his family live in Anne Arundel County, where he enjoys boating, fishing, and exploring the natural beauty of the region he is proud to call home.
