A CFAAC Nonprofit Agency Designated Fund established by Girls on the Run of the Greater Chesapeake. Girls on the Run of the Greater Chesapeake (GOTRGC) inspires girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.
GOTRGC has fun, evidence-based programs that inspire all girls to build their confidence, kindness and decision making skills. Dynamic lessons instill valuable life skills including the important connection between physical and emotional health.
This designated fund was established during CFAAC's 25th Anniversary endowment initiative to help nonprofits create a lasting endowment for perpetual support of their mission. SUPPORT GIRLS ON THE RUN OF THE GREATER CHESAPEAKE EMPOWERMENT DESIGNATED FUND
The fund supports Girls on the Run of the Greater Chesapeake as they inspire girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident through a physical activity-based positive youth development program. The program is designed to enhance 3rd-8th-grade girls’ social, psychological, and physical skills and behaviors to successfully navigate life experiences. The after-school program’s intentional curriculum places an emphasis on the development of competence, confidence, connection, character, caring, and contribution. Girls on the Run of the Greater Chesapeake empowers girls across Anne Arundel County and the Greater Chesapeake region at a critical age, providing positive tools for mental health and well-being.
Since its inception in 2005, Girls on the Run of the Greater Chesapeake has proudly impacted the lives of over 20,000 girls. Program goals of social-emotional and life skills learnings, as well as physical development, are achieved through the efforts of over 500 trained volunteer coaches each year. The organization serves over 2,200 girls annually in grades 3-8, including over 50% of girls from lower socioeconomic and income-constrained backgrounds who require financial assistance to participate in the Girls on the Run program. The organization remains steadfast in serving the whole community and removes barriers to participation, financial and otherwise. With focus on effort and personal improvement, participants of all abilities build their emotional and physical capacity. GOTRGC is committed to ensuring that lessons remain relevant to things currently impacting girls and offers a culturally responsive framework, ensuring the program experience is reflective of diverse participants. The curriculum provides space for girls to connect lessons to their contexts and share what matters most. It strengthens a sense of confidence in girls while fostering care and compassion for self and others.
