Empowering Women and Girls

Join us in making a difference in the lives of women and girls facing significant challenges in Anne Arundel County. The Women and Girls Fund, established in 2009 by the Klompus Family Foundation, is dedicated to supporting initiatives that empower women and girls to lead positive, fulfilling lives. 

The mission of the Fund is to support projects in Anne Arundel County that develop individual skills, decrease isolation, create new experiences, and empower women and girls who face major obstacles due to poverty, disability, domestic violence, and/or lack of access to resources.

Grants from the Women and Girls Fund support nonprofits that help women and girls in Anne Arundel County pursue positive, productive lives by helping remove barriers, increase economic security, and enhance their well-being and safety, and empowers women and girls to make positive life decisions for themselves and their families.

How You Can Help

You can be a part of this impactful initiative by donating to the Women and Girls Fund. Your contribution will directly fund grants for nonprofits in Anne Arundel County that are working tirelessly to uplift and empower women and girls in our community. Your donation, whether by check, credit card, stock transfer, wire transfer, estate gift, qualified charitable distribution, or bitcoin, will directly contribute to grants that support vital programs and initiatives.

The mission of the Women & Girls Fund is to support nonprofits that help women and girls pursue positive, productive lives by helping remove barriers for women and girls, increase their economic security, enhance their well-being and safety, and empower them to make positive life decisions for themselves and their families.

Based on available funding, the Women and Girls Fund will award two or three grants of $3000 to $5000. Successful grant applicants will demonstrate:

  • Strategic and data-informed solutions, aligned with community needs and the organization’s mission
  • Credibility in the field or project
  • The ability to create a measurable impact

To be eligible to apply, organizations must meet ALL of the following criteria:

  • Located and operating in Anne Arundel County
  • Have a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt designation from the Internal Revenue Service
  • Be in compliance and current with the Maryland Secretary of State Charitable Organization Registration Requirements (you can confirm here)

TIMELINE:

  • Grant applications open on July 14, and close on August 26, 2025 at 5:00pm.
  • The grant review committee will review applications and conduct interviews if necessary. Grants will be awarded at the conclusion of the process.
  • The funding period is October 1, 2025 through September 30, 2026.
  • A final evaluation assessing project outcomes is required for all grant projects within 30 days of completion. Report formats will be provided.

Make a Tax-Smart Impact

Many people like you are making tax-smart donations with appreciated stocks and bonds, qualified charitable distributions (QCDs) from an IRA, or a variety of planned gifts.
