What is multi-generational giving? How might families approach working together, sharing interests and priorities to help make the world a better place? In this session, we’ll discuss the stages of charitable giving, the basics of multi-generational giving, and why might multi-generational giving be an approach to consider. Through a series of exercises, we’ll discuss how to involve family members and plan out next steps. We’ll also examine how your Community Foundation is available to partner with you as you go forward.
Covered in this educational session:
Rosemary Calderalo is the Director of Advancement at the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS), based in Maryland. In her current role, Rosemary leads the development team at IONS, supporting excellence in donor services and engaging donors, as well as professional advisors and their clients in philanthropic planning on topics ranging from tax strategies and multi-generational conversations to legacy giving and major gifts. Previously, she served as the Director of Gift Planning at the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County, and still serves there in a consulting capacity. She has more than 25 years of experience in the nonprofit sector in fundraising, donor support, programs, and executive leadership.
Rosemary has found that regardless of their scope of wealth, people often do not believe their lives have made or can make a difference; she enjoys helping people see that they can do make a difference, and that their dreams for the world can come true through the power of their charitable giving.
Rosemary has also served in leadership positions with organizations such as the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, the Baltimore Community Foundation, Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake, United Way’s 2-1-1 in the Hudson Valley, and the American Red Cross in New York and Connecticut, serving as a national trainer with that organization. She holds a B.A. in English/Writing Arts from SUNY Oswego, an M.S. in Continuing Studies from Mankato State University in MN, and a doctorate in Adult Education from Syracuse University. In addition to her nonprofit work, Rosemary is an active volunteer, helping other organizations with strategic planning and resource development.
