A CFAAC Donor Advised Fund established to honor the legacy of Dr. Beth L. McGee and her deep passion for our community and environment. In June 2023, Dr. McGee passed away after a courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer. Her family created the fund through the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County to receive memorial donations and provide long-term financial support to nonprofits that reflect Beth's values and passions.
Beth's body of work at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation spanned two decades and created a legacy that will impact many generations to come. As a result of contributions to this fund, a named fellowship at CBF was created to support the next generation of environmental scientists, researchers, and advocates ensuring her legacy of conservation, innovation, and education continues to thrive. As we face growing environmental challenges, investing in aspiring leaders through this fellowship not only honors Dr. McGee's vision, but also empowers scholars to drive meaningful change, protect natural resources, and build a more sustainable future.
This fund is providing essential financial support for the Dr. Beth L. McGee Fellowship at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. Starting in 2025, this annual fellowship was awarded to an aspiring student whose academic work and research focuses on improving water quality and climate resiliency at a time when Federal funding and research in these areas is in sharp decline.
