A MESSAGE FROM MARYLAND HALL FOR THE CREATIVE ARTS

Dedicated to Art for All, Maryland Hall, a 501C3 non-profit organization, is the region’s cultural core, convening and engaging all people—no matter age or background—in arts experiences that strengthen community. Maryland Hall welcomes, connects, and enriches all with inspiring arts experiences.

In 1979, Maryland Hall was founded by a group of artistic visionaries who believed the former Annapolis High School could best be re-used as a community arts center. Today, our historic building is a vibrant place where the arts serve to connect, empower, inspire, and heal our community through education, exhibitions, performances, and entertainment.

Maryland Hall offers a myriad of opportunities for artists and arts organizations to interact with and be a part of the region’s arts community. With collaboration as a founding principle, Maryland Hall has four Resident Companies, each of whom present a variety of professional and high caliber programming year-round including major performances, lectures, school field trips, galas and more:  Annapolis Chorale/Live Arts Maryland; Annapolis Opera; Annapolis Symphony Orchestra; and the Ballet Theatre of Maryland. Additionally, Maryland Hall collaborates with numerous arts-related organizations to ensure aligned missions in our region are supported, and often provides space and technical support to local organizations for their workshops and events, including: the Annapolis Film Festival, Chesapeake Youth Symphony Orchestra, Peabody Preparatory, Rams Head Presents, and Compass Rose Theater

Maryland Hall’s DEI Statement

Maryland Hall is committed to acknowledging our history of segregation and exclusion, particularly of the Black community. We champion and amplify under-represented perspectives and marginalized communities with the intention to reshape our future. As a community resource, we seek to be inclusive of artistic expression for everyone. Through our governance, policies, programming and partnerships, we look to build relationships so those around us can express themselves and tell their stories. We welcome all in the Hall.
