CFAAC’s Fund for Anne Arundel Grants Over a Half-Million Dollars to 13 County Nonprofits – the Most Ever Granted Through the Fund

(Annapolis, MD, June 18, 2025) The Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County’s (CFAAC) Fund for Anne Arundel (FFAA) recently awarded $510,000 to 13 local nonprofits — the largest grant the FFAA has awarded. To date, CFAAC has distributed 51 grants to 29 unique nonprofits totaling $1,772,860 through the Fund for Anne Arundel.

This year’s record-breaking donations enabled the Community Foundation to increase funding made through the FFAA and expand the Fund’s focus to nonprofits that prioritize the physical, mental, and behavioral health of children and families; homeless prevention programs and initiatives; mental wellness programs and initiatives; and school and after-school programs.

“We are proud to award more than a half million dollars through the Fund for Anne Arundel — the largest amount granted in its history,” said Mary Spencer, President & CEO of the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County. “This is all possible through the power of endowment funds and a transforming legacy gift, reflecting our community’s generosity and shared commitment to supporting the nonprofits working daily to improve the lives of county residents.”

Although CFAAC awarded more funding than in previous years, the demand for support continues to grow. This year brought a record number of grant applications, highlighting the urgent and increasing needs in our community. Continued support is essential to ensure that fewer worthy causes go unfunded.

The grants allow the following organizations to continue their vital programs and launch new initiatives so that all residents have access to them. The most recent Fund for Anne Arundel grant recipients include Annapolis Immigration Justice Network, Arundel Lodge, Inc., Chase Your Dreams Initiative Inc., Encore Creativity for Older Adults, HOPE For All, Joy Reigns Lutheran Church, Partners in Care, Seeds 4 Success, Inc., Start the Adventure in Reading (STAIR) – Annapolis, Inc., The Complete Player Charity, The Light House Homeless Prevention Center, Together WE Rise, Inc., and Wellness House of Annapolis.

Here is a brief description of each nonprofit and the programs funded through the FFAA:

    • Annapolis Immigration Justice Network will use the grant funds for legal services and ongoing case management for low-income immigrant children and families in the county.
    • Arundel Lodge, Inc. will use the grant to help fund clinic-and community-based mental health services for AAC children and families including unreimbursed outreach provided by school and agency partnerships.
    • Chase Your Dreams Initiative Inc. will use the funds to help purchase two 15-passenger vans to transport youth and equipment for its after-school and weekend enrichment programs serving underserved communities in AAC.
    • Encore Creativity for Older Adults will use the funds to support two 15-week Sentimental Journey Singers chorale programs in Annapolis for singers experiencing cognitive decline and two new six-week pilot programs outside of Annapolis.
    • HOPE For All will use the grant to fund operating costs for its three core programs —Turning Houses into Homes, Head to Toe, and Next Step Clothing — providing essential beds, desks, and clothing to children in need.
    • Joy Reigns Lutheran Church will use the funds to provide approximately 10-12 months of recovery rental assistance to mothers and children living in its supportive and affordable sober living house, enabling the mothers to focus their attention away from financial challenges and toward sobriety and family.
    • Partners in Care will use the grant to increase the number and kinds of services they offer to low income seniors living in AAC.
    • Seeds 4 Success, Inc. will use the grant money to fund Next Gen Eastport: Expanding Opportunities that will increase afterschool program days for the 25/26 school year and allow for more academic support and enrichment activities.
    • Start the Adventure in Reading (STAIR) – Annapolis, Inc. will use the grant to provide the program support for literacy intervention services to at least 150 at-risk AAC children to help them succeed in their educational journey.
    • The Complete Player Charity will use the funds to expand its Sports & STEAM camp from two one-week sessions to one four-week camp. This will help offer campers more opportunities for math and reading enrichment.
    • The Light House Homeless Prevention Center will use the grant to expand its prevention and stabilization efforts for families who are at risk of homelessness.
    • Together WE Rise, Inc. will use the funds to continue its mentoring program for AAC children and parents through activities such as discussion groups and field trips.
    • Wellness House of Annapolis will use the grant to fund 150 mental health one-on-one counseling sessions, as well as support 215 individual support group visits for children and families experiencing a cancer diagnosis.
