Please join us in welcoming Damika Baker-Wilson, CFRE, to our CFAAC team as our Director of Development. Damika will join the team at the Community Foundation on February 14, 2022. With more than a decade of experience in the nonprofit world, Damika brings a well-rounded development, fundraising, and relationship-building skill set to the Director of Development position.

In this role, Damika will be responsible for the planning, implementation, and execution of a development strategy to attract individual gifts, private foundation gifts, and deferred gifts for CFAAC and will be primarily responsible for developing and sustaining relationships with donors, fund holders, and community partners.

In her most recent position as Director of Development for HumanitiesDC, she was responsible for developing, managing, and executing fundraising and marketing goals for the DC affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. While at HumanitiesDC, Damika managed a $2M+ grants portfolio and was responsible for building HumanitiesDC’s fundraising program by developing fundraising systems, and cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding relationships with public and private funders.

Prior to HumanitiesDC, Damika was the Director of Engagement and Strategic Services for Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History and Culture in Baltimore, MD, where she led strategic educational and engagement initiatives. There she managed a team of 10 and developed and managed major partnerships with institutional donors.

Preceding this position, Damika was Director of Development at the Academy Art Museum in Easton, MD, where she led all fundraising efforts including management of its capital campaign, annual giving, membership, grant writing and management, and special events. She managed a portfolio of major donors and was responsible for 70% of donor touchpoints.

Damika is a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) and holds a BA in Afro-American Studies from the University of Maryland. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Museum Studies at Johns Hopkins University. Damika is a board member at Adkins Arboretum and has been a speaker, presenter, and panelist at local summits and programs. She is also a member of many professional organizations including the Association of Fundraising Professionals, African American Development Officers, and Women of Color in Fundraising and Philanthropy.
