Mike's practice is focused entirely on the areas of Estate Planning and Administration, including the use of trusts and other entities for probate avoidance, estate and gift tax savings, and planned giving strategies. He continues to stay on top of estate planning and tax law changes through continuing legal education and his active participation in the Anne Arundel County Bar Association’s Estate Planning study group.
He has taught courses at Anne Arundel Community College. In addition, he has served as a lecturer for the Anne Arundel County Bar Association’s Estate Planning Study Group, National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, BayWoods of Annapolis, Thrive Networking Group, and the Anne Arundel Estate Planning Council (AAEPC). He is the immediate past chair of the Executive Committee (Board) for the AAEPC, a group composed of attorneys, financial advisors, CPAs, business valuation experts, insurance agents, employee benefits consultants, and trust officers. The purpose of the AAEPC is to educate professionals and others about the benefits the various financial professionals bring to one another’s clients. By working together and studying with experts from various disciplines of the financial services industry, members of the AAEPC are able to better serve their clients by recognizing issues outside of their scope and recommending skilled professionals to address those issues.
Additionally, Mike is an active participant and member of WealthCounsel LLC, a collaborative network of more than 3,000 estate planning attorneys nationwide. He was selected as a “Rising Star” in the 2012 edition of Maryland Super Lawyers. Mike currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the Annapolis Opera.
