Community Volunteer
Larry Clark was president of the Deerbrook Charitable Trust from 2007-2022, a position he held following his retirement from the National Science Foundation (NSF). He held several positions during his 27 years at the NSF, culminating as director of the Division of Ocean Sciences. Larry was the board chair of the Edna McConnell Clark Foundation from 2014 until 2022 when the foundation closed and became the lead investor in Blue Meridian Partners. In addition to CFAAC, he currently serves on the boards of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Manatee County Foundation. He is past-president of The Oceanography Society and has served on the boards of several independent schools. In 2023, Larry was presented with the Herbert Hoover Humanitarian Award by the Boys and Girls Clubs of America and the prestigious Celebration of Philanthropy Award by CFAAC.
Larry graduated from Rollins College in 1969 and holds advanced degrees from the University of Massachusetts and Cornell University. He works and consults with several non-profit social service organizations. He and his wife Janice enjoy boating on the Chesapeake and on the west coast of Florida. They have three grown children and four amazing grandchildren.
