For more than 30 years, Dan Mathias has made it a priority to give back to the community and remains committed to serving and supporting local charitable organizations within Anne Arundel County. Dan graduated from Anne Arundel Community College (AACC) and went on to The University of Maryland, earning his B.S. Degree in Fire Protection Engineering. In 1989, he co-founded Absolute Fire Protection, Inc., a full service fire sprinkler company, and in 2015, was a founding partner of Absolute Systems Engineering, LLC., a full service electrical contracting company.
Dan stays very active in his trade. He is a member of the NFPA Committee on Residential Sprinklers and taught a fire sprinkler apprenticeship class for eight years. He currently serves as Vice Chair on the Board of Trustees for the AACC Foundation. Previously, Dan served as a long-time Board Member of Bello Machre, Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts, the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Education Trust, and the local Architecture, Construction, and Engineering (ACE) chapter.
In addition to his board and industry work, Dan enjoys a variety of pastimes. As an avid sailor and boater, he holds his USCG Boat Captain license, and races sportscars periodically in the SCCA national level sports car division. He earned his FAA/IFR private pilot’s license and flew for many years. He also enjoys maintaining and collecting sports cars and motorcycles, and loves being involved with his kid’s sports. Dan and his wife, Tanya, reside in Annapolis with their two sons.
