Brenda Alexander is the Communications Specialist at the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County (CFAAC), joining the team in August 2026. At the CFAAC, she is responsible for the creation of marketing, communications, public relations, and event-related written materials in partnership and collaboration with the Marketing and Communications Manager, the Director of Philanthropic Resources, and other members of the CFAAC staff.

For the past decade, Brenda has worked as a Journalist and Editor for various media organizations. Her work can be seen in ESSENCE, Blavity, PopCulture.com, BMore Art, Lenox and Parker Magazine, Walt Disney World Magazine, Collider, Good Day Atlanta, and beyond. Merging her love of storytelling and helping others, she worked simultaneously as a Communications Consultant for the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute, a Boston-based nonprofit committed to helping families impacted by murder.

Before her work as a full-time journalist, Brenda worked extensively in the nonprofit space. As the sole Communications Manager for Bebashi Transition to Hope, the country’s first Black-led sexual health and education organization, Brenda expanded the organization’s visibility both locally and nationally through media coverage, vendor and event partnerships, digital and social media campaigns, and worked with the Development Director to secure unprecedented grants and donations. She also worked with the African American Chamber of Commerce of PA*NJ*DE as the organization’s Communications Consultant.

Brenda is a graduate of Temple University’s Klein College of Media and Communication, where she completed the university’s honors program. Outside of work, Brenda enjoys spending time with her daughter, traveling, writing, and all things Disney and Christmas.
