Director of Mentorship Programs for Anne Arundel County Public Schools

Andre Dillard is a passionate educator and mentor from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. As the eldest of four brothers, he navigated the Pittsburgh Public School system before earning a bachelor’s degree in education from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and a master’s degree in School Administration and Supervision from Bowie State University.

In May 2023, Andre was appointed the inaugural Director of Mentorship Programs for Anne Arundel County Public Schools, the first individual to hold this position. His selection by Superintendent Dr. Mark Bedell reflects Andre’s deep, decades-long commitment to youth mentorship and community engagement. A resident of Anne Arundel County for over 27 years and a school system employee for 20, Andre has built strong relationships with organizations and individuals dedicated to student success.

With a career span of 32 years, Andre has served as principal of Georgetown East Elementary for 11 years and previously worked as an assistant principal and teacher in school districts across Buffalo, NY; Cleveland, OH; and Queen Anne’s County, MD. His work has consistently focused on Title I and inner-city schools, underscoring his dedication to serving underserved communities.

Beyond education, Andre is committed to youth empowerment, believing in equipping young people with the skills and opportunities they need to thrive. He is also a 4th-degree black belt in Taekwondo and a 33-year member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Andre also serves as a Board Member for STAIR (Start The Adventure In Reading), a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing one-on-one reading tutoring to first and second grade students in Anne Arundel County Public Schools.

Andre resides in Annapolis, Maryland, with his wife and two sons, born and raised in Annapolis.
