Greg Strott was born in Baltimore, MD and then moved to Annapolis in 1969. He graduated from Annapolis High School in 1976.

Greg got his Bachelor of Science at Salisbury State College in 1980.

He began his career in the solid waste management and collection industry in 1981 with Refuse Removers. He then formed Calvert Trash Systems, Inc. in 1987 and sold it in 1999. He went on to join Bay Area Disposal, LLC in 2013 and sold it to Republic Services in 2017.

He served on the board of the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County from 1998 to 2010 and from 2016 to the present. Greg and his wife Trish have been married for 34 years. They have two adult sons, Adam and Rob. ​
