Maryland's 2017 legislative session is shaping up to be momentous for causes that are important to nonprofits, like the budget, mandatory sick leave, affordable housing, education, transportation, and more...
CONNECT WITH CAUSES
This year's preview will feature roundtable discussions, facilitated by your peer nonprofit advocates, on the policy initiatives that are important to you.
The Legislative Preview will highlight key issues and challenges nonprofits will face in Annapolis, where the need to adequately fund state services will again be competing with tax-cutting proposals and forecasts of future budget deficits. Roundtable discussions will feature nonprofit policy initiatives, (e.g. education, health, arts and humanities, equity in all policies, police reform, transportation), Maryland Nonprofits' 2017 policy priorities, and how Maryland's ongoing budget problems could effect your organization and the people you serve.
The Legislative Preview will include the second annual "State of Our State: Maryland's Quality of Life" address by Heather Iliff, President & CEO of Maryland Nonprofits. The brief presentation will highlight the major indicators that impact Maryland's quality of life, equity and opportunity on how nonprofits, business and government are and can work together to move the needle in the right direction.
