President & CEO

Mary Spencer is the President & CEO at the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County (CFAAC) in Annapolis, MD. Mary is responsible for leading financial growth, enhancing greater philanthropic awareness and donor satisfaction as well as increasing knowledge about the issues that impact the health, vitality, quality of life and future of Anne Arundel County.

She has a diverse background across the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors. Most recently, Mary served as the first Executive Director of Encore Creativity for Older Adults. In this role, the organization improved its business practices, budgeting and public relations and increased fundraising, programming, and staffing. Previously, she was Director of Advancement for The Key School in Annapolis. Mary has raised over $14 million dollars in Anne Arundel County in support of a variety of nonprofits. She served on the Board of Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts and has been a longtime member of both the Association of Fundraising Professionals, and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). She is a member of Anne Arundel Women Giving Together (AAWGT).

Mary has been a resident of Anne Arundel County for the past 40 years and earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland, College Park. She joined CFAAC in August 2018.
