In 2009, the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County launched its first competitive grants program after a series of community meetings and focus groups helped to identify unmet needs. Since then, the Ladders to SUCCESS grant program has focused on providing opportunities for economic and self-sufficiency, life-skills development, and academic advancement for county residents. Over the last nine years, CFAAC donors have provided more than $1,000,000 for grants to 27 nonprofit organizations in Anne Arundel County through a competitive application and review process.

The Ladders to SUCCESS grant program has been a point of pride for many of us at CFAAC, but it is time to move on to a different model of grant-making. We have all seen the emergence of new issues and concerns in Anne Arundel County, whether it be affordable childcare, transportation, housing, mental healthcare, or substance abuse and addiction. As CFAAC continues to grow our resources and endowment, and increase the funds available to make grants into the community, our Board of Trustees has decided that it is time to conclude the Ladders to SUCCESS grant program, and focus our efforts on a more open and flexible model of grant-making moving forward.

We thank the Deerbrook Foundation and our many other generous donors who have supported the Ladders to SUCCESS grant program over the years. Watch for news about our new Fund for Anne Arundel County as we continue to build our resources in support of a thriving community for all our citizens.
